Dr. Melvin Benson Jr., DDS, FAGD, is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center College of Dentistry (2006), which is among the top clinical education programs in the nation. Dr. Benson has authored a book titled Changing the Way You Go to the Dentist, and in 2018 he became one of the elite 6% of general dentists to earn a Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). Although new to the Orlando area, Dr. Benson has been practicing dentistry for almost 20 years and is licensed in Florida, Arkansas, Colorado,and Wyoming.
With almost 835 hours of post-doctoral education, Dr. Benson’s passion lies in both delivering exceptional care and helping others grow in the profession. His extensive clinical background, combined with his commitment to lifelong learning, makes him an invaluable resource to both patients and providers. Whether he’s treating a complex case or guiding new dentists through advanced techniques, Dr. Benson is driven by a deep commitment to compassionate, personalized care and clinical excellence.
Comprehensive dentistry does not stop with just the teeth and gums; it has far-reaching implications that if left untreated can make other medical conditions worse such as diabetes, heart disease and blood pressure. Dr. Benson believes in treating the whole patient and educating them on why a specific dental approach may be better in their individual case. This allows the patient to be involved in their oral health through a collaborative partnership with their dentist for the best treatment outcome. His goal is to always “inform before he performs” and provide each patient with his signature brand of straightforward dental care that respects each patient’s unique oral and health care needs.
When he is not practicing dentistry or attending continuing education courses, Dr. Benson enjoys spending time with his family. He has been married to his wife, Jenny, for over 23 years, and they have two beautiful children, Rachel and CJ. The Benson family enjoys Jeeping, fishing, boating, diving, watching/playing football, and traveling.
